At 519 Hockey we use innovative training techniques to help our young athletes develop their skills while having fun!

About

519 Hockey Training is run by D.J. Turner, former Jr.B player of the year, CIS student athlete, European professional player and current elementary school teacher. D.J.'s unique combination of educational and playing experience ensures our athletes are provided with proper instruction AND correction while partaking in challenging and fun skill development drills. We like to blend the old with the new, staying up to date on the latest training methods while also integrating proven techniques to make sure our sessions are able to translate into success for our athletes in todays evolving game.

Focus on proper stride, edge control, stopping, crossovers and puck control.
2. Advanced u11 spring skills @ WFCU

For u8/9 md and u11 travel players (2019-2016)
- A 5 week progression of skating, shooting and puck control drills
with a focus on teaching specific skills and how they can be utilized
in a game.

Summer Sessions 2026
- There will be once a week sessions during the day @ Wfcu and evening @ Atlas Tube as well as week long 4 day camps running weekly @ wfcu for 2 hours a day.

5-5:50. Defence skills 2015-2011 (plus 2016/2017 travel)
- Defence specific skills training: backwards skating, gap control, defending, retrievals, blue line options
6-6:50. Powerskating 2015-2011 (plus 2016/2017 travel)
- Detailed more skating instruction, along with how to utulize these skills within hockey games.
***For all weekly sessions there will be no refund for missed sessions. Players will be offered a make up session at another evening or day session during the summer***

1-Lakeshore Small area skills and 3v3 challenge June.29,June.30, July.2 (no ice July.1)

2 hours of ice time each day. The first hour is small area skills training. The 2nd is a fun 3v3 tournament. Round robin on June.29/30 with playoffs on July.1. Players will be split into teams by the coaches.

-various shooting and sitck handling drills working on shooting for power, quick release, goal scoring strategies, puck control, puck protection and more
3- July. 13-16 @ wfcu position $300
9:50-11:40. 2015-2011 (plus 2016/2017 travel)
- The first 60 minutes of each day will be position specific skills.
Defence- retrievals, breakouts, defending, offensive blue line work etc.
Forwards- creating space, in tight scoring, 1v1 tactics, attacking with speed etc.
The last 50 mins will be combined where they will use these skills in competitive and game situational drills
4-July. 20-23 @ wfcu summer skills $300

This camp will be a combination of powerskating, puck control, shooting as well as game application drills, competitive drills and small area games.
5- July. 27-30 @ wfcu Battle Camp $300 2017-2011

6- Aug. 4-6 @ wfcu speed, quickness agility $220. 2017-2011

One hour of various powerskating drills focusing on speed quickness and agility. Then pucks will be added as we show how we apply these skating skills with pucks and in game situations.
7- Aug. 10-13 @ wfcu position $300 2017-2011
1 hour of position specific skills. Then the defence and forwards come together for competitive and collaborative drills
Defence- backwards skating, pivots, gap control, defending, retrievals, blue line options
Forwards- creating space, puck protection, shooting, in tight scoring, 1v1 skills, forechecking
8- Aug. 17-21 @ wfcu Battle Camp $300 2017-2011
